When in doubt, head to Brisbane's East, and get yourself comfortable at Morningside's Sarmic Cafe.

Having been a favourite of Bulimba locals, Sarmic Cafe moved to a bigger space on Wynnum Road Morningside, (formerly occupied by Southside Tea Room) in 2019. The decor is rustic and industrial, with some quirky decorative and repurposed pieces adding to the character of the place.

The open kitchen looks out to the dining space that includes some communal tables; perfect for those group gatherings and catch-ups over their awesome Bear Bones Coffee. But where this cafe really impresses is of course where it counts; the food.

The seasonal all day menu by Chef Michael Hoare ranges from the the Omelette that incorporates a 12-hour cooked,melt-in-your-mouth beef brisket with charred corn, cheddar, ranch and sambal, or the absolutely incredible, Fish Falafel with almond hummus. The kind of dishes that pack so much flavour, but is well balanced, well-presented, without trying too hard to be "insta-worthy". It's the kind of food that has one returning over and over.

Admittedly, we did exactly that. Sarmic is kid-friendly, with a "Minions" menu offering, and they're also open for dinner Wednesday to Saturday nights from 6pm - 9:30pm, where kids eat for $5. While they're licenced, you can also BYO. To top it off, service is friendly and efficient.
