2022 is bringing back the laughs as the Brisbane Comedy Festival returns with its biggest program to date. A hilarious hitlist of more than 100 notorious international acts, repeat offenders and homegrown heroes will have audiences LOLing in the aisles at multiple venues for five weeks of frivolity.

From this April to May, the Moro Spanish Film Festival presented by Palace returns with a curated selection of films. The rich programme of thirty four films consists of twenty-one features from Spain, ten from across Latin America including Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic as well as another three from Australia and the USA, and offering a wide range of genres from period-set drama, documentary, realist drama, to satire and riotous comedy.

The Ginger Factory has collaborated with Sunshine Coast local artist Sophie Blake, to create a joyous explosion of colour, aptly named the Rainbrella Project. An installation artwork nestled in the rainforest gardens of The Ginger Factory on the Sunshine Coast of nearly 1000 rainbow-coloured umbrellas suspended above the rainforest via a network of interconnected steel structures designed to last. Best of all it’s FREE!!

The Museum of Brisbane invites viewers to delve deep into their collections and see the changing nature of our city. Featuring artwork depicting views from as early as the 1820s, the new exhibition presents more than 100 historical and contemporary depictions of the Brisbane region from the MoB collections. Adding additional layers of storytelling to the experience, MoB have commissioned an immersive sound artwork by Brisbane composer, artist and curator, Lawrence English to share the city’s many soundscapes. While a dynamic installation by artist Jenna Lee looks at the dual impact of colonisation and development’s historic and ongoing impact on environment and language.

Responding to the devastation that hit Brisbane and the rest of Queensland last week, some of Brisbane’s best chefs are uniting for one unforgettable night. The Farmers Flood Relief dinner will see Adam Wolfers from Gerard’s Bistro, Louis Tikaram of neo-Chinese venue Stanley, Fin Burgess of ESSA, Oscar Solomon of Yoko, Ghanem Group’s executive chef Jake Nicolson, Alex Gregg of restaurant Agnes, Will Cowper and Gianna Ephraims of OTTO Brisbane, Sarah Baldwin of restaurant Joy, and Gerard’s Bistro’s head chef Juliette Markovich. In addition to dinner, guests will be able to bid on a variety of prizes, with all proceeds on the night donated to flood affected farms.

Brisbane’s oldest standing theatre since 1888, the Princess Theatre was lovingly restored in October 2021 to become Brisbane’s newest home for live music, entertainment and the arts.
